The actress will be joining stars Nicole Kidman, Hugh Grant, and Donald Sutherland in the upcoming HBO limited series The Undoing, an adaptation of Jean Hanff Korelitz’s 2014 book You Should Have Known. Deadline Hollywood says the six-episode drama will explore the sudden turmoil within the life of Grace Sachs (Kidman), an author on the verge of publishing a self-help book imploring women to stop making excuses for the behavior of the men in their lives.
‘The Undoing’ centers on Grace Sachs, who is living the only life she ever wanted for herself. She’s a successful therapist, has a devoted husband (Grant), and [has] young son (Noah Jupe) who attends an elite private school in New York City. Overnight, a chasm opens in her life: a violent death, a missing husband, and in the place of a man Grace thought she knew, only a chain of terrible revelations. Left behind in the wake of a spreading and very public disaster, and horrified by the ways in which she has failed to heed her own advice, Grace must dismante one life and create another for her child and herself.
Dumezweni will portray Haley Gibson in the series, which is scheduled to premiere in 2020.
The actress was originally cast as Hermione Granger in Cursed Child in December 2015 and appeared in three projects prior to the conclusion of the original run: the Netflix series Black Earth Rising, the short The Egg and the Thieving Pie, and Mary Poppins Returns. She’s already had two films released this year as well, including January’s The Kid Who Would Be King and last month’s The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind.
The sky certainly appears to be the limit for the two-time Olivier Award winner and Tony nominee!
With Cursed Child‘s original Harry Potter, Jamie Parker, also having secured his first post-play role and anticipation rising for Anthony Boyle’s (Scorpius Malfoy) May 10 film Tolkien, we’re looking forward to big things in the future from all of the original cast members.
