We’re feeling good vibes this week on Casting News, as one of our Fantastic Beasts favorites just tied the knot Tuesday, while one of our Harry Potter loves is spending quality time with his father on the set of a new film. Warm and fuzzy yet? A new music video promoting David Tennant and Miranda Richardson‘s upcoming show, Good Omens, could put an end to that for you. The thought of Warwick Davis reprising one of his all-time most beloved roles might bring it back, though… And we’ve no idea where Robert Pattinson looking like a bedraggled sea captain will put you. A veritable roller coaster of emotions awaits below, so without further ado… Castium Revelio!
It's been a few months since Sir Kenneth Branagh's (Gilderoy Lockhart) love letter to the Bard, All Is True, premiered in the United Kingdom, but the film is about to make its United States debut in New York City and Los Angeles on May 10. In anticipation, Playbill released an exclusive clip last week, in which a young man tracks William Shakespeare down to ask how the author compiled the experiences necessary to write so knowingly about all things and receives an unexpected answer: He imagined it.
If you want to be a writer and speak to others, and for others, speak first for yourself. Search within. Consider the contents of your own soul. Your humanity. And if you're honest with yourself, then whatever you write - all is true.

Gary Oldman (Sirius Black) has been hard at work shooting Dreamland - the upcoming thriller that shines a light on the opioid crisis - in Montreal, and judging from an Instagram post made last week by his wife, Gisele Schmidt, Oldman has apparently completed his portion of the filming.

Four more actors, meanwhile, were reported by Deadline Hollywood to have signed on to the project last week: Luke Evans (Beauty and the Beast), Mia Kirshner (The Black Dahlia), Michael Aronov (The Americans), and Martin Donovan (Big Little Lies). The movie is expected to hit theaters in 2020 but has no official release date as yet.
If you love Oldman as much as we do (and frankly, that'd be pretty difficult, but you can try), you'll want to be looking out for the actor's 2019 releases: Killers Anonymous, which is set to premiere June 28; Mary, set for a September 26 release in Argentina; The Woman in the Window, slated for an October 4 debut; and the Netflix movie The Laundromat, which is also expected to debut this year.
Timothy Spall (Peter Pettigrew) has been chatting with television and radio hosts around the UK about his new look following a significant weight loss, and the actor was spotted again by the Daily Mail looking fit as a fiddle in a gray tweed coat as he headed into Global radio studios in London to promote The Hatton Garden Heist.
Spall also reminisced recently with English radio and television presenter Chris Moyles about his role in the 1983 comedy-drama Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, for which the actor is beloved in the UK. You can watch that video as well as check out photos of Spall on his way to Global studios below.
Amazon Prime Video released a new music video last week as part of its marketing campaign for Good Omens, starring David Tennant (Barty Crouch Jr.) and Miranda Richardson (Rita Skeeter), and it's... well, it's hilarious. The video features the Chattering Order of St. Beryl, fresh off their farewell (to the world) tour, singing "Brand New Baby Smell," an ode to the newborn Antichrist. Had we previously ever thought of the Antichrist as "squishy"? Nope. But we do now, and you'll also want to keep an eye out for Neil Gaiman, cowriter of the novel on which the series is based, popping up Where's Waldo? style in the video. Good Omens debuts May 31.
[The show centers on] the binary choices between good and evil, and the 'virgin' Jodie plays, who's the most charming, most evil person, and the 'good person' in Sandra's Eve, who is becoming less good, and she's the 'middle-aged,' and then there is 'the crone' (herself), as it were, in the scheme who is sometimes negotiating between the two. It's a very ancient structure, and whatever is left out by the other two can be filled by the third person.
Grab your tissues. With the filming of Medida Provisória, which is currently ongoing in Rio, Alfred Enoch (Dean Thomas) is getting the opportunity to appear on screen with his father, British actor William Russell, for the first time.
Doctor Who News reports Russell, who played Ian Chesterton, companion to the First Doctor in Doctor Who, is enjoying filming with his son, and Enoch says working with his father on the movie has been a dream come true.
[This] has always been my dream. My father is my great reference since always. He was my first teacher. I told [director] Lazaro [Ramos] we never worked together, that I always wanted it but it never happened, and now that he's 94, I thought I wouldn't have this opportunity. And suddenly, he was in, and it was beautiful.
Medida Provisória, which translates to "Provisional Measure," has no release date yet, and it's unclear whether it will be distributed to international audiences, but you can keep track of its progress (and see plenty of photos and videos of Enoch!) on the movie's official Instagram account. Enoch also brought his mother, Brazilian-born Etheline Enoch, on location.
We let you know last week that Brendan Gleeson's (Mad-Eye Moody) new film, Frankie, was set to make its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, and the Wrap is now reporting that Sony Pictures Classics has acquired the North American rights to the movie. Gleeson stars in an unknown role alongside Marisa Tomei, Greg Kinnear, and Isabelle Huppert.
Gleeson's acclaimed AT&T Audience Network series, Mr. Mercedes, has also been renewed for a third season, Den of Geek reports. Bechir Sylvain (Grace and Frankie) and Meg Steedle (Code Black) were recently announced as new cast members, and Season 3 is expected to premiere later this year.
Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory) and Willem Dafoe's upcoming fantasy horror flick, The Lighthouse, which we told you about in January, will finally hit the screen this month at the Cannes Film Festival.
In anticipation, a first-look still was released last week, Geek Tyrant unveiled, which you can view below. Let's be honest: he still looks good. Pattinson also recently spoke about the movie's script - and how he nearly went to blows with its director.
This new script blew us away - it creates a totally unique and ambitious universe and manages to somehow feel scary, suspenseful, wondrous, and beautiful all at the same time. However much I love Robert [Eggers, director], there was a point where I did five takes walking across the beach, and after a while, I was like, 'What the fuck is going on? I feel like you're just spraying a fire hose in my face.' And he was like, 'I am spraying a fire hose in your face.' It was like some kind of torture. It definitely creates an interesting energy.
Fans of Willow, you might want to sit down for this one. Director Ron Howard has revealed a potential reincarnation of the beloved 1988 fantasy drama as a television series is in the works.
The AV Club reports Howard has said the potential project is in "serious discussion" and would definitely include Warwick Davis (Griphook/Filius Flitwick) returning in the titular role. The series, which would likely find its home on Disney+, would serve as a continuation of the original film and feature "a more mature Willow." Howard also said Davis "is so cool and so good, he's such a good actor, that I really hope we get the chance to see the mature Willow in action." We'll let you know as soon as anything more definitive is announced!
There are some really serious discussions going on with Jon Kasdan, who was one of the writers of 'Solo', who kept hounding me about 'Willow' the whole time we were shooting and also hounding Kathy Kennedy. We're in discussions about developing a 'Willow' television show for Disney+. And I think it'd be a great way to go. In fact, George [Lucas] always talked about the possibility of a 'Willow' series, and it'd be great and more intimate, and built around that character and some of the others. And Jon Kasdan has, I think, an inspired take on it, and it could be really, really cool.
Davis, a Scout Ambassador, also took the time last week to fly to the Isle of Wight for a meeting at the Hovertravel terminal with around 70 area Scouts. Davis presented Scout Dylan Reeves with his Chief Scouts Gold Award, and you can view photos of his visit below.
David Bradley (Argus Filch) will be making an appearance this fall at the Repton Literary Festival in Derbyshire, England. The Derbyshire Telegraph says the 48-hour festival will feature artists and writers discussing their work and reading poetry and prose, and the actor is slated to appear Saturday, October 26. Program directors said Bradley "liked the sound of what we were doing, so he decided to accept our invitation."
Fans of both the Harry Potter films and legendary comedy troupe Monty Python's Flying Circus can spend "An Evening with John Cleese" November 1--2 at the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas. The legendary comedian behind Gryffindor's ghost, Nearly Headless Nick, will appear for two nights only in the intimate theater, which seats fewer than 2,000, and tickets are on sale now.
A French sci-fi short starring Arben Bajraktaraj (Antonin Dolohov) that's been playing at film festivals since 2013 has been released online by YouTube sci-fi channel Dust.
FirstShowing.net says On/Off, the story of astronaut Meredith (Carole Brana) and her obsession with a "mysterious voice message," the "paradoxical condition" of which she must confront in order to maintain a connection with her humanity, is now available for public viewing, and you can watch it below. Bajraktaraj stars as Cid.
[Sharon Tate] has been mythologized in some way through the murders, but we get to see her as a person, and we get to see her delight and enthusiasm and her sweetness. She represents an innocence and innocence lost, in some way, and that innocence is very much - that sweetness, that goodness, that delight with the movies, with her, with her life - is something that we experience.
Heyman says the movie is less of a biopic and more a picture of the effect the murders had on the area and the era. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, as is common for Tarantino projects, features a star-studded cast, which includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Al Pacino, Kurt Russell, Margot Robbie, Dakota Fanning, and Luke Perry in his final role. It's scheduled for a July 29 premiere, and you can check out the teaser trailer below.

The Sun reports the actor wed his longtime girlfriend, Phillipa Coan, in a surprise civil ceremony Tuesday at Old Marylebone Town Hall in Central London, with only close family invited. Coan is a business psychologist who runs her own company, Stride, specializing in improving employee performance.

Eddie Redmayne (Newt Scamander) was in Shanghai recently for watchmaker Planet OMEGA's exhibition "Power Station of Art," and the actor's attire caught the eye of Esquire. Redmayne has been a spokesman for Planet OMEGA since 2015 and appeared at the exhibition in a Ralph Lauren Purple Label linen two-piece suit.
A new sci-fi thriller is in the works, and Colin Farrell (Percival Graves) has been tabbed to star. Deadline Hollywood says Voyagers will additionally feature Johnny Depp's (Gellert Grindelwald) daughter, Lily-Rose Depp, and also offered a brief description.
'The Upside', 'Divergent', and 'Limitless' director [Neil] Burger has written and will direct the sci-fi thriller about 30 children who are sent on a multigenerational mission to populate a new planet. After the captain of the mission is killed in mysterious circumstances, the young crew descends into chaos, aligning themselves into tribes as they surrender to their most feral impulses.
For those who've read Lord of the Flies, it's pretty easy to see why the film is being called "Lord of the Flies in space." And, as such, probably without pigs, thank goodness. Production is scheduled to begin in early June in Romania.
The 2019 British LGBT Awards are coming up this month, and both Ezra Miller (Credence Barebone) and Stephen Fry (narrator of the UK Harry Potter audiobooks) are among the nominees. The Daily Star says Miller is nominated for LGBT+ Celebrity and Fry for Broadcaster or Journalist. The event is scheduled for May 17 in London.
Miller is also currently on tour with his band, Sons of an Illustrious Father, as MuggleNet informed you last week, and you can check out a few photos of the actor/musician rocking out on the drums at the band's Singapore gig below.
The much-anticipated second season of Big Little Lies is coming up June 9, and Harpers Bazaar revealed a selection of new stills released by the show last week, including a few featuring Zoë Kravitz (Leta Lestrange). Meanwhile, Vogue was on hand for a recent photocall for the show, during which Kravitz wowed in a Caroline Herrera polo-neck knit and black blazer with blue velvet Manolo Blahnik for Carolina Herrera slippers.
Jessica Williams' (Eulalie Hicks) long-awaited appearance on Jordan Peele's reboot of The Twilight Zone is finally upon us. Williams will star in the series' sixth episode, "Six Degrees of Freedom," Thursday on CBS All Access. The episode features a crew of astronauts on the first manned mission to Mars, who find themselves making a pitstop in the fifth dimension. You can check out the trailer below.
The music of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will soon be available on vinyl. TheaterMania says the songs from the stage production, written, composed, performed, and recorded by Grammy winner Imogen Heap, will be presented chronologically on the album, which also includes an eight-page booklet featuring production shots and commentary from Heap and other members of the creative team. The album is scheduled for a June 21 release, but you can order it now on Amazon.
What's On Stage provided a first look last week at Tom Burke (Cormoran Strike) in his new role as Rosmer in the London production of Rosmersholm. Rosmer is described as a man "haunted by history and living in a grand house owned by a powerful family." The play is scheduled to open Thursday and run through July 20 at the Duke of York's Theatre, and you can purchase tickets here. Neil Austin, the lighting designer on Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, is also in charge of lighting.
