What Would “Harry Potter” Characters Have on Their Christmas Lists?
What would Harry, Hermione, and Ron want for Christmas? Everyone enjoys the festive and fun atmosphere of the holidays at Hogwarts. Between the great feast, snowball fights, and absent homework, it’s a glorious time to be a wizard. What everyone loves the most are the presents! We searched all over the castle to discover these lists, some of which were on desks and others that were tucked away in an owl’s cage. While Dobby invited us warmly into the kitchens and was happy to hand his list over, not everyone was as willing. Dumbledore was hesitant, but at the risk of getting another pair of socks, he relented. Hagrid offered us rock cakes along with his list, but we understandably declined. From gathering all these lists together, we were able to identify what each individual wanted for Christmas.
Dobby
- Socks, of course
- Butterbeer, which house-elves aren’t technically supposed to have, but Dobby would drink it in moderation
- Another tea cozy made by Molly
- A Gryffindor jumper, because Dobby is a Gryffindor at heart
- A biography about Harry (as long as it’s not written by Rita Skeeter)
- A SPEW Badge gifted to him from Hermione
Dumbledore
- New colorful robes from Twilfitt and Tatting’s
- Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans, as long as there are no earwax or vomit-flavored ones
- A wizard chess set, because even the Hogwarts headmaster needs a hobby
- More parchment paper, because everyone needs it
- A Dumbledore’s Army badge
Molly
- A complete collection of Lockhart’s books
- A new cookbook
- Magical yarn
- A new bag with an Undetectable Extension Charm
- Tickets to a Celestina Warbeck concert
- A tracking device for her children to know if they’re in trouble
- A new subscription to Witch Weekly
Luna
- Nargles, if they can be found
- Another pair of pink Converse sneakers that hopefully no students will hide
- Pudding fresh from the kitchen
- Wrackspurts, if they can be seen
- Blankets for the Thestrals to keep them warm and toasty at night
- Crumple-Horned Snorkacks that have yet to be discovered
- A new colorful dress (But does Luna make her own?)
Ron
- A vintage wizard chess set
- A new broom
- Chudley Cannons uniform
- A gift certificate to Quality Quidditch Supplies
- His own copy of Quidditch Through the Ages that hopefully he will read
- A modern set of dress robes in case Ron ever wants to dance again
- A gift certificate to Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, because his brothers will never give him a discount
Lupin
- A copy of Hairy Snout, Human Heart by Anonymous
- Hershey’s Chocolate Bars to keep away the Dementors
- A book on Defense Against the Dark Arts
- A hot drink of firewhisky
- A knitted jumper from Molly, because Lupin always looks cold
Hagrid
- Flagons of mead
- A new collar for Fang
- A copy of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
- A copy of Goshawk’s Guide to Herbology for growing giant pumpkins in his garden
- Extra candles to keep the hut warm at night
- A knitted quilt from Molly
- Another tea kettle, because Hagrid always has everyone over for tea
- More tea, of course – perhaps pumpkin flavored
- Galoshes for trips into the Forbidden Forest
Trelawney
- Tarot cards for a new Divination lesson
- An extra crystal ball, because you can never have enough
- Teacups, but not for throwing at Death Eaters
- Exotic scarves
- A copy of Death Omens: What to Do When You Know the Worst is Coming to fuel further paranoia
- A copy of Omens, Oracles & the Goat by Bathilda Bagshot to alleviate paranoia
- Scrying mirror
- An astrological chart for next year
Are there any other items that these characters need? What about another pair of glasses for Harry in case he breaks them, or a Herbology-themed trip to Nepal for Neville? Please share your ideas and suggestions in the comments section below!
