It's hard to believe the start of another awards season is on the horizon, but let us put it to you in an even more jarring manner: Christmas is only a little over five months away. Now that you're wide awake, projects involving five wizarding world alumni were among the 71st annual Emmy Award nominations released Tuesday, and they include:

• SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES: Fiona Shaw (Petunia Dursley), Killing Eve

• GUEST ACTRESS IN A COMEDY SERIES: Fiona Shaw, Fleabag; Emma Thompson (Sybill Trelawney), Saturday Night Live

• DRAMA SERIES: Killing Eve – featuring Fiona Shaw as Carolyn Martens in Seasons 1–3 and Henry Lloyd-Hughes (Roger Davies) as Aaron Peel in Season 3

• COMEDY SERIES: Fleabag – featuring Fiona Shaw as "Counsellor" in Season 2

• LIMITED SERIES: Chernobyl – featuring Ralph Ineson (Amycus Carrow) as General Tarakanov and Adrian Rawlins (James Potter) as Nikolai Fomin

Chernobyl is also up for Directing for a Limited Series or TV Movie and Writing for a Limited Series or TV Movie, and Killing Eve is nominated for Directing for a Drama Series and Writing for a Drama Series. Best of luck to our nominees! The 2019 Emmys will be held September 22.

We've been keeping you apprised of all the behind-the-scenes action on the upcoming Kingsman series prequel starring Ralph Fiennes (Lord Voldemort) and Rhys Ifans (Xenophilius Lovegood), and this week, we've finally got some in-front-of-the-camera news for you! The first trailer for what is now called The King's Man has been released, and it looks magnificent. Fiennes portrays the Duke of Oxford and Ifans plays Rasputin in this tale of how Britain's most dapper and daring secret intelligence service came to be, as further described by Variety:

The footage sets the events in the early 1900s with scenes of wartime devastation. Ralph Fiennes is portraying the Duke of Oxford, while Harris Dickson is playing his new protégée. The duo is working against a collection of history's worst tyrants and criminal masterminds - including the legendary Rasputin (Ifans) with a deadly gleam in his eye as he spins around while attacking with a sword.

In the trailer, which you can view below, Fiennes's character explains, "Real power is not found running off to war. Real power lies in understanding who it is you're truly fighting and how they can be defeated. I know you want to fight, but there are other ways of doing your duty." You can also see Ifans doing yet another fabulous job of bringing a not-quite-sane character to life. The King's Man is slated for a February 14, 2020, release. Fiennes and Ifans, as we previously let you know, are also appearing together in Official Secrets, which hits theaters August 23.

Also included in the gallery is an image of Fiennes and costar Daniel Craig on the set of Bond 25, courtesy of the Express. We're very happy to report that nothing is aflame and no one is experiencing bodily harm in said images. Bond 25 is slated for an April 8, 2020, release, and Variety also reported this week that Christoph Waltz will be returning to his role as the iconic Bond villain Blofeld in the film.

Imelda Staunton (Dolores Umbridge) will have the chance to show off her delightful lighter side with a new comedy project from BBC and Apple, Chortle reports. The show, which is operating under the working title of Alabama, will mark the BBC's first coproduction with tech giant Apple and will air worldwide on Apple's new digital platform next year. Production on the eight-part series is underway, and we'll let you know as soon as we know more!

An adaptation of Georges Simenon's Maigret novels, starring Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) as famed fictional French detective Jules Maigret and Fiona Shaw (Petunia Dursley) as Madame Moncin, has been picked up by Ovation, Deadline Hollywood says. The two-season series originally aired in the US via on-demand service BritBox. Ovation will air both seasons beginning August 31. A 1992 adaptation of the books featured Sir Michael Gambon (Albus Dumbledore) in the titular role.

Fantha Tracks posted a vintage interview with Warwick Davis (Griphook/Filius Flitwick) last week from former fansite Lightsabre.co.uk. During the October 2007 chat, the actor discusses - obviously - his roles in the Star Wars franchise but also touches on his then-ongoing role in the Harry Potter series. Less than a month remains until the premiere of Domhnall Gleeson's new film, The Kitchen, and we can't wait! Based on the DC Vertigo comic book series of the same name, the movie tells the 1978 story of three housewives - Melissa McCarthy, Elisabeth Moss, and Tiffany Haddish - whose mobster husbands are sent to prison, prompting the ladies to take control of the Irish mafia. Warner Bros. released the final trailer for the picture last week, and in it, you can catch Gleeson in his role as Gabriel O'Malley. The Kitchen storms theaters August 9.

 

Hero Fiennes-Tiffin (11-year-old Tom Riddle) has been recognized for his recent role in After, picking up the Breakout Actor of the Year award at the 2019 Ischia Global Film & Music Fest in Italy. You can view a few photos from the event - which he attended with his mother, Martha Fiennes - in the gallery below. Fiennes-Tiffin has also been selected to promote Woolrich's new fall collection. A lookbook of photos taken in Flushing Meadows Park in Queens, New York, was recently released, as Woolrich prepares to open a flagship store in August in the SoHo district, and you can view a few of the shots in the gallery. Film New Europe says that a new project starring Arben Bajraktaraj (Antonin Dolohov) is slated to begin shooting August 26. The Stork will feature Bajraktaraj in a primary but currently unnamed role. No premiere date has been set, but you can check out a description below.

The story, written by Isa Qosja, takes place in a village in Montenegro mainly populated by Albanians and located at the border with Albania. The events develop in present times and relate to the migration of the Albanian inhabitants from that region, a development that started in the '60s and is continuing today. The film unfolds three situations: The present lives of three generations of women who have been left alone to deal with life and death.

We let you know in May that Stephen Fry (narrator of the UK Harry Potter audiobooks) would be performing Mythos this September at the London Palladium, and London Theatre Direct now reports that the ticket demand has been so overwhelming that Fry has added another date. Tickets for a Tuesday, September 17 performance are now available and can be purchased here.

Fans of DC are continuing to fight the good fight for the release of the infamous "Snyder cut" of Justice League, featuring Ezra Miller (Credence Barebone) as the Flash. While we wait, however, the Comic Crew released a pair of new images to Instagram last week showing Miller's Flash mucking about with some of the wonderful toys in the Batcave.

Last month, MuggleNet let you know that Jude Law (Albus Dumbledore) would be starring in HBO and Sky's mystery drama The Third Day, and Deadline Hollywood reports that Katherine Waterston (Tina Goldstein) could now be joining him. Waterston will reportedly portray Jess, whom Law's character (Sam) encounters on the mysterious island to which he's drawn.

Collider recently released the nominees for this year's Saturn Awards, and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is among them. The Saturn Awards honor the best of sci-fi, fantasy, and horror, and the 45th annual presentation will be made September 13. Crimes of Grindelwald is nominated for Best Fantasy Film Release, going up against the likes of Dumbo, starring Colin Farrell (Percival Graves), and Mary Poppins Returns, featuring Dame Julie Walters (Molly Weasley, Harry Potter) and Noma Dumezweni (original West End and Broadway runs, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child).

Also nominated are Captain Marvel, starring Law and Gemma Chan (Madam Ya Zhou), for Best Comic-to-Motion-Picture Release; Ophelia, featuring Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy, Harry Potter), for Best Independent Film Release; Good Omens, starring David Tennant (Barty Crouch Jr., Harry Potter) and Miranda Richardson (Rita Skeeter, Harry Potter), for Best Streaming Fantasy, Sci-Fi, or Action/Thriller Television Series; and Tennant for Best Actor in a Streaming Presentation.

Big Little Lies fans are eagerly awaiting tonight's Season 2 finale, but it may also turn out to be the entire series' swan song. People reports that HBO president Casey Bloys recently stated it wouldn't be "realistic" to expect the show - which stars Zoë Kravitz (Leta Lestrange) - to return for a third season due to the high demand for its star-studded cast.

The reality is, they are some of the busiest actresses working in Hollywood. [...] Look, if they all came to me and said, 'We worked out all of our schedules!' then sure. But I just don't think it's realistic. Season 2 was a chance for everyone involved to end [the franchise] in a way that feels satisfying.

Kravitz is certainly a busy lady these days and was spotted again filming for the upcoming series adaptation of High Fidelity on the streets of Brooklyn, along with director Natasha Lyonne. You can check out a few photos of the actress in action in the gallery below.

Kevin Guthrie's (Abernathy) latest film, Connect, which we told you about in March, will be screened at this year's Fringe by the Sea festival ahead of an October cinema release. The Scotsman says the film, which addresses the issue of suicide among young men, will screen August 4 for the first time in the community in which it was filmed: North Berwick, East Lothian, Scotland. Tickets to the showing can be purchased here.

I Am, starring Samantha Morton (Mary Lou Barebone) and Gemma Chan, along with Vicky McClure (Line of Duty), will begin airing this week on Channel 4 in the UK. The three-part series tells the stories of three women dealing with various issues relating to the themes of relationships, identity, and empowerment, and Variety gave us a little insight last week into the episodes.

Morton will star in the episode "I Am Kirsty", which explores a woman and the sacrifices she must make to keep her family stable in an increasingly precarious world. "Kirsty's story is deeply influenced by my own experiences and is autobiographical at its heart," Morton said. "Sadly, the issues explored in this show - poverty, austerity, desperation - are all too real for so many people, and I feel strongly that it's so important that we can speak openly about that."

Chan, meanwhile, will appear in the episode "I Am Hannah", the story of a single, 30-something professional struggling with the expectations of society and family. "Like many women I know, Hannah is struggling with the anxiety that comes with living in a society that constantly reminds women about their 'biological clock'," Chan said. "At its core, her story is about someone trying to free themselves from expectation, both internal and external."

I Am begins airing Tuesday, and you can check out the trailer below. The series does have international rights and will sell outside the UK.

 

Corporate Animals, starring Jessica Williams (Eulalie Hicks), has had its release date slightly delayed. We first told you about the film, which also stars Demi Moore and Ed Helms, in April, and an August 9 release date had been set, but Bloody Disgusting now says its debut has been bumped back a bit to September 20.

Tolkien, starring Anthony Boyle (Scorpius Malfoy, original West End and Broadway runs) and Pam Ferris (Aunt Marge, Harry Potter), received overall positive reviews during its theater run, and ComicBook.com says the film now has a DVD release date. The movie will be available for purchase August 6 in the US, and you can preorder it here. Tolkien has a September 9 release date in the UK and is also available for preorder on Amazon.

While Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was largely snubbed at Australia's answer to the Tonys - the Helpmann Awards - to the surprise of many, the award for Best Lighting Design did go to Neil Austin for his work on the play.

Holliday Grainger (Robin Ellacott) has several irons in the fire right now, and the actress sat down recently with the Guardian to discuss both C.B. Strike and her new film, Animals. In Animals, Grainger plays Laura, a 32-year-old writer trying to find middle ground between how people expect her to act and how she wants to act. "I think there is a pressure on people [of that age]," she said. "It's 'What are you doing with your life?'" Grainger also spoke about how her career has progressed thus far.

For most of my teenage years, I was the northern best friend. And then someone was like, 'Oh, she can do RP!' Then, it was like, you can be the posh lead. Then it was the posh lead in a corset. I remember a Skype meeting once with some director, and he asked, 'Can you do contemporary?' I was like, 'I'm not speaking to you from the 1900s right now.'
