Tom Felton Stands Up to Cancer in New Campaign
Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) is standing up to cancer, and encouraging others to do the same, in a new campaign for Stand Up to Cancer in the United Kingdom. The actor is among a number of celebrities who star in Stand Up to Cancer’s newest film, which will be shown in theaters starting October 11.
Cancer Research UK, which began the Stand Up to Cancer campaign in the UK alongside Channel 4 in 2012, noted that one in two people in the UK born after 1960 will be diagnosed with some form of cancer during their lifetime.
The film itself depicts a number of stars working “to beat [cancer] at its own game.”
The film, set to launch in cinemas from 11th October, opens with Martin Freeman tirelessly swotting up on fundraising ideas late into the night. As the camera then cuts from one celeb to the next we see Celia Imrie remembering a lost loved one; Joe Dempsie and Nina Sosanya pummelling boxing pads; Tom Felton scaling a climbing wall; Noel Clarke smashing world records; Neil Morrissey break dancing and Adrian Scarborough dressed head to toe as a carrot, all to raise vital funds for life-saving cancer research.
Stand Up to Cancer has raised more than £62 million in the UK, funding 52 clinical trials and projects involving 11,000 cancer patients across the country.
