Emma Watson Wants You to Be More Eco-Friendly with Your Clothes
Emma Watson announced on Instagram that she was partnering with thredUP to help people understand the impact their clothes have on the environment.
thredUP is an online resale and thrift store for clothes and accessories. The company has a newly launched feature to help you see how eco-friendly you are in the closet. The fashion footprint calculator quiz asks a series of questions about your shopping, washing, and resale habits and then tells you your carbon footprint on a scale from low to high.
According to the website, the average amount of CO2 released into the atmosphere as a result of the clothing industry is 1,620 lbs. per person per year. After you take the quiz, thredUP will even give you tips on how you can reduce your impact.
In her Instagram post, Emma Watson encourages her followers to shop responsibly, buy second-hand, and “create a more circular fashion future.”

Rowling’s charity, Lumos, encourages literacy and learning for female empowerment, and fights against sexual harassment in the workplace. It would only make sense that Emma would add tackling climate change to her long list of triumphs.
