UPDATED: RUMOR: Daniel Radcliffe in Talks to Play Moon Knight
Daniel Radcliffe has proved he can play any character. With diverse roles in musicals like How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and indie films like Swiss Army Man, we wouldn’t be surprised if producers at Marvel are indeed considering him for the title role in the new Disney+ series Moon Knight.
Daniel Richtman posted on his Patreon that Radcliffe is one name in the mix for the role of Marc Spector, a former marine turned mercenary who stumbles upon the Egyptian god Khonshu’s temple and inherits the god’s powers by agreeing to become his avatar on Earth. Spector takes on a false billionaire persona and begins a life of fighting crime, eventually teaming up with Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and the Fantastic Four.
The character is a fan favorite, and comic fans have been gunning for a screen adaptation of Moon Knight’s story for years. The series was announced at last year’s D23 Expo along with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Hawkeye, and Marvel’s What If…? Its current working title is Spectorcorp Productions, and rumor says Dracula may appear as a villain. Umbrella Academy writer Jeremy Slater has been announced as the showrunner for the series, which likely won’t premiere until at least 2022. Until then, we’ll keep an eye out for our favorite wizard taking on another magical role.

Update (February 26, 2020):
Radcliffe has commented on the rumors that he’s up for the title role in Moon Knight.
If I was ever to go back into a franchise, I think the bar for that script would be even higher than anything else. Before you can sign on to being in anything for multiple years, you have to be sure you’re really going to love it all the time. I’m not averse to doing any kind of franchise thing in the future again, that could be fun. But the ‘Moon Knight’ rumors are untrue, I can officially debunk that one, I haven’t heard anything about it.
We would have loved to see Dan on Disney+ every week. It looks like we’ll just have to keep watching Miracle Workers: Dark Ages!
