“Game of Thrones” Stars Reunite for Dungeons & Dragons Live
It’s time to roll for initiative! On June 20, at 3 pm EDT, Game of Thrones stars will reunite to play Dungeons & Dragons to raise funds for Red Nose Day.
The star-studded adventuring party will include Harry Potter‘s own Nymphadora Tonks, Natalia Tena (Osha), Daniel Portman (Podrick), Gemma Whelan (Yara), Iwan Rheon (Ramsay), and Kristian Nairn (Hodor), all from Game of Thrones. The game between these players is one of many Wizards of the Coast will be hosting during the weekend of June 18–20. This weekend is being called D&D Live 2020: Roll with Advantage.
The game will be Dungeon Mastered by Wizards of the Coast game designer Kate Welsh. This band of unlikely heroes meets an unusual creature that sends them on a strange task in a realm famous for danger.
It looks like the actors already have their character ideas fleshed out and are ready for some role-playing. Kate Welsh corresponded with Entertainment Weekly about her excitement over DMing for these stars.
The games I run tend to be ridiculous and goofy, which are two words I wouldn’t apply to Game of Thrones, necessarily. Super excited to see how these actors in particular let loose with the antics you typically find at a D&D table.
Not only is this weekend filled with Game of Thrones stars, but Wizards of the Coast’s lineup is also sprinkled with actors from various other series, including some other stars we all know and love. Check out the official Wizards of the Coast website to view the itinerary. The weekend will be livestreamed through Wizards of the Coast’s Twitch channel and featured on its YouTube channel. Please note that all times listed from Wizards of the Coast are in PDT. To get in on the action, you can register for remote participation with Wizards of the Coast through the D&D Live Event Portal and gain access to resources, including four short adventures you and your adventuring party can play.
This is bound to be a fun-filled weekend full of role-playing, excellent acting, and if we’re lucky, maybe a fight with a dragon or two! Will you be watching these stars roll the dice for charity this weekend?
