Events Roundup: Zoo Days, Wizards Beer, and Film Festivals
Welcome back to another Events Roundup, Harry Potter fans! We have some fun, albeit few, events to enjoy in the coming weeks. So buckle in and let’s get started.
Harry Potter Day at the Zoo
Cameron Park Zoo in Waco, Texas, is hosting a scavenger hunt adventure for the whole family on November 14. Since this is a Harry Potter–themed hunt, it will be filled with trivia from all the books and movies, so it might be a good idea to start preparing now. We don’t really need an excuse to binge-watch/read the entire series, but this is a good one! The hunt will begin at 9:00 a.m. and run until 2:00 p.m. There is a limit of six people per team, and team registration is $10, or $5 if you’re a park member. Butterbeer will also be served throughout the zoo for the day. And if you manage to place in the top three spots, prizes will be awarded. Don’t forget to download the Goose Chase app to participate in this event. You can find more information on the Cameron Park Zoo website.
Virtual Wizards Beer Festival
This is an event that should make the stay-at-home, 21-plus-year-old fans happy. A virtual beer festival will be held online and hosted by Rock Star Beer Festivals on November 28 starting at 8:00 p.m. Once you’ve registered for the event, you will be sent a package of specially selected brews to enjoy during the livestreamed festival. Each package comes with ten beers for two people. Watchers will be thoroughly entertained as hosts chat with brewers and re-create ten favorite scenes from the films. Organizers mentioned a “comedic twist” to the evening as well, so be prepared to laugh. Live music and trivia will also be provided. Delivery options are available in California, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, and Nevada with an added delivery fee. A person over the age of 21 will need to receive the delivery. After you register for the event, which is priced starting at $35, you will be emailed a link to the live video the day before the event. Guests will also have the opportunity to live chat during the festival. For more information and to register, visit the event website.
Harry Potter Film Festival
Movie marathons have been and always will be the best way to spend a lazy weekend. It’s even better if you get the chance to experience them in movie theaters. The Grandin Theatre in Roanoke, Virginia, is doing exactly that. All eight Harry Potter movies will be showing between November 21 and November 24, at two movies per day. The theater’s executive director had this to say about the event: “We think this is a really safety-first, limited-engagement format and will be fun for kids and families the week leading up to Thanksgiving.” Tickets are priced at $8.25 for adults and $7.75 for kids per movie. Each day, movies will run starting at noon and 3:30 p.m., and you can catch the entire series if you attend all four days. You can find more information on times and tickets on the Grandin Theatre website.
That’s all for this Events Roundup. We did say it was a short one. On the flip side, short in no way means less fun. Are you planning on attending any of these events? If you do, drop us a line and tell us how it went!
If you’re hosting an upcoming magical event, you can submit it to be included in a future Events Roundup by sending all relevant information to submissions@staff.mugglenet.com.
