Events Roundup: Trivia Showdowns, Art Classes, and Drive-In Movies
We have some new and exciting events for just about everyone to enjoy. Whether you’re a trivia buff or want to get your baking skills perfected, we have an event waiting to be discovered. It’s another Events Roundup! Let’s get started.
Book Trivia
We get our fair share of trivia events here in the roundup, and we love sharing them with you. Takeout Trivia is hosting an online competition for only the most knowledgeable of Harry Potter fans. Topics will cover only information from the books. If you win, not only will you be able to walk away with the glory of a reigning trivia champ, but cash prizes will also be awarded to the top teams. The whole event takes place on Zoom on January 20 at 8:30 p.m. EST and will run for about 90 minutes. Registration is $10 per team.
Movie Trivia
Don’t worry – if the movies were more your speed, we’ve got you covered. Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is hosting its own trivia showdown. Questions will come from the movies. This event will take place on January 28 at 7:00 p.m. EST at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Woodbridge, Virginia. While there isn’t a cash prize for this trivia contest, you can still walk away knowing you’re the brightest witch/wizard/Muggle of your time. Registration is free, but the location requests tickets be reserved for each person on your team.
Drive-In Movie
Since we should all still be taking precautions and keeping our (social) distance, a drive-in movie seems like an appropriate outing. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone will be showing at the Revolution Hall in Lexington, Massachusetts. The movie starts at 7:00 p.m. EST on January 22. Tickets are $20 per car, so bring the whole family. When you’re checking out, use the promo code Drive1 for a treat from Revolution Hall when you order food at the venue.
Virtual Art Club
It’s time to explore your creative side with a virtual art club. Young Art USA is hosting a four-week event in which kids can let loose and unleash their art skills. An instructor will guide you through four projects in an online setting. Each class is on a Saturday, starting on January 23 at 1:00 p.m. PST. Registration is $79 for all four weeks. Kids ages five and up are encouraged to join.
Cookie Decorating
We can all agree that cookies are one of the best things ever, right? Good. With that in mind, you’ll probably love this event. Sift + Pour in Dallas, Texas, is hosting a cookie-decorating class featuring four Harry Potter cookie designs. This delicious class guarantees not only some cookies to eat but also two glasses of butterbeer. Tickets are $35 per person. If you plan on sitting together, buy your tickets in one purchase. Baking starts at 5:00 p.m. CST on January 23.
Potter Pub Crawl
Join the citizens of Columbia, South Carolina, as they embark on the third annual Potter Pub Crawl. Witches and wizards (above the age of 21, of course) will be able to enjoy delicious cocktails and specialty drinks across bars in the downtown area of Columbia. Tickets include not only entry to the event but also a wand, access to trivia games, House-themed routes, and more! Registration starts at $22 per person, and the fun starts on January 23 at 4:00 p.m. EST.
That’s all we have for you in this week’s Events Roundup. Check back next time for more exciting news.
