MLQ Creates Fit for Quidditch Fitness Challenge
Major League Quidditch (MLQ) is slowly starting its 2021 season according to one of the plans released by the league earlier in the year, so it’s time to get ready and be fit for Muggle quidditch. That’s the reason why MLQ has created Fit for Quidditch, a new fitness challenge.
Fit for Quidditch is a virtual fitness competition designed to help athletes improve their fitness levels after the pandemic. The goal is to have workouts reach a total of 1,554 minutes per athlete, and it will all happen between June 1 and June 30.
It doesn’t matter what the workout is: Running, jogging, walking, climbing, biking – everything counts. The participant only has to log everything and enter it along with a screenshot from their own fitness app into an MLQ form. That information will then be added to a public leaderboard. The daily limit for each workout is 70 minutes, as decided based on the recommendation of a conditioning coach.
Everyone can participate regardless of location, including non-MLQ athletes and athletes who don’t play quidditch at all. Tickets for participation cost $15.00 each, but a group of ten participants can purchase tickets together for just $130.00. Every participant will receive an MLQ Merit Patch.
Participants who finish the challenge and log it in the MLQ form will receive a competition medal. Additionally, they will be entered into a lottery to win one of three fitness bundles. Each bundle includes a $20 gift voucher for Born Primitive, a US Quidditch adult player membership, a US National Quidditch Team shirt, a “WTF Is Major League Quidditch” tote bag, an MLQ single-color logo tee, and fitness gear.
