Fan Focus: Tiffany – June 9, 2021
May I have the class’s attention for a moment? MuggleNet would like to announce the return of Fan Focus, where we will introduce and highlight a Wizarding World fan biweekly by sharing their answers to various questions and more.
Are you ready to meet 33-year-old Gryffindor Tiffany from Cleveland, Ohio? Oh, by the way, she is also the cocreator and cohost of a Harry Potter podcast called Swish and Flick, which is available to listen to on Spotify.
How did you become a Wizarding World fan?
I don’t remember how I got the first book in my hands; it must have been a friend. But I do remember reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets over and over again and being called an “expert” by my middle school English teacher when we did a book study on Chamber. I loved reading Harry Potter and discussing it with my friends from the very beginning. In those early days, I would pretend that I was at Hogwarts when I was in school, equating my classes to classes at Hogwarts. Example: Science was potions class. I still have that wild, fun imagination!
What is your favorite Harry Potter or Fantastic Beasts memory?
I cannot pick one, so here are two. My favorite Harry Potter book memory was going with my mom to Walmart at midnight for the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The workers handed out bracelets to everyone that night with the Hogwarts houses on them, and this was pre-Pottermore, but I knew in my heart that I was a Gryffindor, so that is the bracelet I chose! I remember the workers then cutting the plastic off the massive stacks of books, and I grabbed mine and ran to the checkout with my mom. I got home, read until two in the morning, went to work, faked being sick, went home and finished the book, and sobbed on my bed. My favorite Harry Potter movie memory is going to the midnight showings, back when they were actually at midnight, being there with my friends and sister-in-law, and crying and loving every second of the movies. When you see that WB symbol on the screen and hear John William’s score, it just hits different. Those were some of the best days of my life.
Who is your favorite Wizarding World character and why?
My favorite character from the Wizarding World is Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore. Dumbledore is my favorite character because he loved Harry deeply and had to make some difficult choices and decisions along the way, but in the end, it was […] his love for Harry that led to a love for all in the [w]izarding community. What Dumbledore did for Harry was that he gave him the best fighting chance at survival and success. Dumbledore also has a story arch that we only get a glimpse of, but he is someone who changes his thoughts and ways, and for that, I can appreciate him so much more.
If you could spend a day with a character from Harry Potter or Fantastic Beasts, who would it be and why?
I would spend a day with Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore because he is my favorite character from the series, and if he were willing, I would want to know his entire life story. I would want to know about his childhood, his relationships, his studies, his thought processes, and so much more. And I like to think we would have some brandy and discuss knitting patterns too.
If you could have one prop from the set of Harry Potter or Fantastic Beasts, what would it be?
If I could have one prop from the Harry Potter movies, I would choose the Elder Wand. I love the look of it and the power and history behind it.
What is your favorite quote from the books or movies?
“Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!” – Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore
