Bid Farewell to “Harry Potter: Wizards Unite” This Month by Battling Every Dragon and Lethal Adversary

Last November, we received the shocking news that the mobile game Harry Potter: Wizards Unite was closing down. Developer Niantic announced that the game would be removed from all app stores in December and all servers would officially shut down on January 31. If you have any lingering goals or unused gold, you should start working on them. In the meantime, we can still enjoy Niantic’s final events.

Niantic held its final Brilliant event during the last week of December, starting on December 27 at 11:00 a.m. PT and ending on January 3 at 11:00 a.m. PT. Battle of Secrecy Brilliant Event Part 2 had players seeking Brilliant Foundables belonging to the Brilliant Battle of Hogwarts Courtyard, such as Brilliant Nagini and Brilliant Young Ron Weasley from Encounters, Fred Weasley from completing Wizarding Challenges, Basilisk Fangs from opening Brilliant Portkeys, and Kreacher from finishing Tasks.

 

 

And with this final Brilliant event, Niantic closes out the year with the conclusion of the Calamity. However, it seems that the end left players mostly befuddled because it turns out that an entire portion of dialogue that completed Constance Pickering’s arc was removed. Originally, it seems the event was meant to end on December 31, but the devs likely had to extend the event to accommodate for all the initial bugs. Some tasks were cut to allow players to finish in a timely manner, but Niantic may have accidentally cut dialogue in the process. In case you were one of the witches or wizards left Confunded after reading the exchange, then you’d be please to know that the cut dialogue has surfaced online. You can read the exchange below:

Harry: Why don’t you put your wand down, Constance? We can talk as long as you want, but let’s let Grim and Penelope have the reunion they deserve.

Constance: I can’t do that…

Harry: Constance, no!

Constance: Rennervate! There you go, Grim. You should be able to move again. I’m sorry for stunning you and everything I’ve put you and Penelope through. Go on, reunite with your wife and end the Calamity. I won’t stop you.

Grim: Thank you, Constance. Now if you don’t mind, I owe my wife an apology for taking so long to find her.

And to close out Wizards Unite, Niantic announced the January events with some added bonuses. Throughout the month, starting on January 5, rewards will be doubled for completing Daily Assignments. And since the 1920s Wizarding World Convergence was a new addition to the game and we didn’t have much time to collect, we will also be seeing 1920s Wizarding World Portkey Portmanteaus.

The Dragon Oddities event will begin on January 3 and is expected to end on January 10. During this event, witches and wizards will be able to face all four Dragons while also being able to obtain special Dragon Portkey Portmanteaus on the overworld map.

Starting on January 10 and ending on January 17, the devs are increasing appearances of all Lethal Adversaries, which include Barty Crouch Jr., Bellatrix Lestrange, Dolores Umbridge, Lucius Malfoy, and Lord Voldemort. Witches and wizards who defeat Lethal Adversary Lord Voldemort for the first time this month will be receiving an additional Gold Key, which can be used to open 1920s Wizarding World Portkey Portmanteaus.

The last event of Wizards Unite will be the Emergency and Severe Spotlight Spectacle. From January 17 to January 31, witches and wizards will see increased spawn rates of Emergency and Severe Traces all over the map.
