Over 300 Million Copies of “Harry Potter” Books Sold Worldwide

J.K. Rowling’s agent, Christopher Little, has confirmed that worldwide sales of the Harry Potter novels have now surpassed 300 million copies thanks to the success of the most recent novel. Scholastic announced back in July that a record-breaking 6.9 million copies of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince were sold in the first 24 hours after the book’s release.

According to Today, “As of September, ‘Half-Blood Prince’ had sold 11 million copies in the United States, according to publisher Scholastic, Inc.”

Speaking of incredible worldwide success, the Potter books have now been translated into 63 languages, most recently Farsi. CBS News shared just today that J.K. Rowling holds the #1 spot on Amazon’s list of bestselling authors.
