Welcome to this week’s edition of MuggleNet’s Casting News. After we saw David Tennant return to the Tardis last week, we’re looking at new posters starring Warwick Davis, a show renewal for Samantha Morton, and a trailer featuring David Bradley. Castium Revelio!
First up, though, is the first look at Emma Watson ready for CBS's upcoming charity special Pickled. The show will see 16 celebrities compete in a pickleball tournament to raise money for Comic Relief US. Check out all 16 celebrities ready for the games to begin below.
Next is some award news on The Batman, which stars Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory) and Fantastic Beasts's Zoe Kravitz (Leta Lestrange). The film won Best Film Costume and Best Film Direction at this year's Saturn Awards. The awards celebrate the year's best in horror, fantasy, and sci-fi productions. Congratulations to The Batman on the awards!
We've got some sad news on Miranda Richardson (Rita Skeeter) and Fate: The Winx Saga for you now. Unfortunately, Netflix has not renewed the show for a third season, despite the popularity of the fantasy drama. The show's writer and producer Brian Young shared an emotional post on Instagram announcing the news.
Do you remember when we told you about Dame Emma Thompson's (Professor Trelawney) book Jim's Christmas Spectacular? Well, the festive tale is now out for all to read, and Thompson has been speaking about how she found the process of writing it "therapeutic" and how the story makes her "feel cozy at Christmas time."
Up next is a sneak peek at Disney+'s upcoming fantasy show Willow, which stars Warwick Davis (Professor Flitwick) as the titular character. The show is a reboot of an '80s cult classic, and the poster design is very reminiscent of the original film's era. The show's first episode will be released on November 30, with episodes being released weekly every Wednesday after that. Check out the new poster below.
We've got a new role for Jim Broadbent (Professor Slughorn) to tell you about. He's joined the cast of Prime Video's upcoming dramedy My Lady Jane. The show will reimagine the story of Lady Jane Grey, who reigned as Queen of England for only nine days, by rethinking her rise to power. The series is currently in production in London.
Sticking with Prime Video, we've got a trailer for its upcoming Christmas comedy film Your Christmas or Mine?David Bradley (Argus Filch) is set to feature in the film, which will follow the story of a young couple that ends up swapping Christmas celebrations when they decide to surprise each other and change trains. The film will be streaming on Prime Video beginning December 2.
Fantastic Beasts Cast and Crew
There's good news for any fans of the historical drama The Serpent Queen, starring Samantha Morton (Mary Lou Barebone). The show has already been renewed for a second season following its very successful first one. The second season will continue to tell the tale of one of France's most ruthless rulers.
Morton won't be the only one returning to a role. Claudia Kim (Nagini) will be making a return as Maeda in Gyeongseong Creature, with this renewal marking the first occasion that Netflix has renewed a Korean drama for a second season before the premiere of the first. According to Netflix, the show's second season will begin production next year, although there are currently no certain dates.
Mads Mikkelsen (Gellert Grindelwald) is set to star in a new project that will begin production in January. Dust Bunny will follow a young girl who enlists the help of her neighbor to kill the monster under her bed, whom she believes has eaten her whole family.
Cursed Child Cast and Crew
Cursed Child producer Colin Callender's production company, Playground Entertainment, has commissioned a second season of Dangerous Liaisons, a drama about two people's lives through the French Revolution. The show's first season is set to debut later this month on Starz.
