Nine Different Trios In Harry Potter
As far as the strange connection of numbers with Potterverse arises, number seven already has it all covered. From the number of Weasley siblings to the count of horcruxes, seven leads the way. However, the numerical links do not stop at seven only. In addition to this, another number makes its appearance often in the PotterEra. The number rhymes with Diggory and comes after two, and before four, it’s called the trinity or three.
The Golden Trio
Our beloved bunch of people from the series are Ron, Harry, and Hermoine. They are warmly known as The Golden Trio around the fandom. The companionship of the trio builds in the first book and is a prolific reason to keep reading the books. The importance of the trio in the series is signified in the name because it is bejeweled and gilded.
The Slytherin Trio
Another trio that pops into the mind as we speak of the trios in Harry Potter is the Slytherin Trio. Draco Malfoy acted as the leader of the trio and Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle were his apprentices. They filled the roles of rivals of The Golden Trio from the very beginning. They were also used to mediate Salazar Slytherin’s characteristic hatred for muggle-borns.
The Comedic Trio
Known as the funny ones in the series are the twins and their best friend Lee Jordan. Their humor and pranks lighten the mood throughout the entire series. Fred and George’s wittiness and Lee’s one-liners still make us laugh aloud. Lee later found a pirate rebellious radio program called Potterwatch in which Fred and Lee appeared under codenames.
The Wand Cores
One more thing that is diverged into three categories is the substances that are placed along the length of the wand, awarding unique and characteristic qualities to it. The wand cores, as used and explained by the expert Garrick Ollivander himself, are Dragon heartstrings, Unicorn hair, and Phoenix feathers. These individualistic and powerful materials indeed make a wand distinctive and different.
The Unforgivable Curses
Another thing that is in the set of three are the incantations so ominous and heinous that the use of any would mean Azkaban. Imperius curse is exercised to yield entire control over someone. Cruciatus curse, or Bellatrix Lestrange’s favorite curse, is operated to brutally torture someone. The infamous Avada Kedavra is the incantation of the killing curse that Harry is the only one known to survive.
The Triwizard Tournament
In the fourth book of the series, an inter-school tournament is introduced in which three schools participate. The goblet of fire chooses a champion from Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang Institute each who further competes in the contest to win. Then these three champions combat each other in three tasks to win the Triwizard Cup.
Three Turns Should Do It
In Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban, Hermoine, and Harry use the Time Turner to save Sirius Black from the attack of dementors and Buckbeak with the aid of Dumbledore’s enigmatic words. Albus Dumbledore hints towards the Time Turner to Hermoine saying, “ Miss Granger, Three turns should do it. Good luck.”
Three Broomsticks Inn
The warmest place across the Hogsmeade and also the house of Butterbeer and Firewhiskey carries the number three in its title. Therefore, Madam Rosemerta’s Inn has the atmosphere of the perfect place to try a cherry syrup soda with an umbrella.
Tale of Three Brothers
A wizarding fairy tale of three brothers deceiving Death on a Twilight plays a very crucial part in the Harry Potter series. Death pretentiously congratulates the three brothers and awards each of them a gift they wish for. Consequently, the three gifts mentioned in the story are known as The Deathly Hallows. Thus, the Elder Wand, Resurrection Stone, and The Invisibility Cloak are the most remarkable magical objects, and the one who possesses all three is believed to be the master of death.
