UPDATED: “Cursed Child” North American Tour Will Kick Off in Chicago
UPDATE (April 27, 2024):
Tickets for the touring production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in Chicago will go on sale on Monday, May 13 at 10:00 a.m. CT. However, the presale starts a week earlier, on May 6.
Previews begin on September 10, and the official opening will be on September 26. The production will run in Chicago until February 1, 2025, after which it is headed to Hollywood.
A couple of months ago, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child announced it would be launching a North American tour next fall, and we now know where the first home of the touring production will be: Chicago, Illinois.
The play is set to open at the James M. Nederlander Theatre in Chicago on September 10, 2024. There’s no word yet on how long the tour will be in the city, so if you’re interested, you’ll want to get tickets as soon as they’re available. You can sign up for the mailing list on the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child website to be notified right away about tickets and future tour locations.
Cursed Child has been staged in three North American cities so far. Its runs in San Francisco and Toronto have wrapped up, but the New York City production is still going strong, now in its sixth year.
Meanwhile, Cursed Child is expanding its audiences even more in 2024 by offering high schools the opportunity to stage a modified version of the production. A competition to become the first school in each US state to license the play is on now, with pilot versions of the show beginning in spring 2024 and the official high school version launching in fall 2024, around the same time the touring production launches in Chicago.
