“Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions” Features a Nod to the PS1 Hagrid Meme

The upcoming Harry Potter game Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is set to be released on September 3, and a fun reference to Hagrid from the PlayStation 1 game has been revealed.

The Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone game on the original PlayStation came out in 2001, and in more recent years, Hagrid’s low-resolution, half-2D, half-3D, slightly worried-looking face has become the subject of many a meme. Some may know the meme as “Haggord,” while others might say they “feel like PlayStation 1 Hagrid” to refer to the fact that they’re not feeling quite right.

Now, Wizarding World Digital has revealed that the iconic Hagrid meme is returning in Quidditch Champions as a paper mask that users’ in-game characters can wear.

It’s a hilarious nod to one of the original Harry Potter games, and we can’t wait to see it in action.

Quidditch Champions is being released on September 3 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. The Physical Deluxe Edition will become available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One on November 8. Those wanting to play the game on their Nintendo Switch will have to wait until the holiday season for its release.

Additionally, Sony has revealed that in September, PlayStation Plus users will be able to access the game as a Day 1 release, making it available to download on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 for no extra cost starting September 3.

There’s lots to look forward to in this new game, including the revelation of the Triwizard schools’ Quidditch pitches, plus many more Easter eggs that eagle-eyed Harry Potter fans will be sure to spot.

It’s not long until Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is released, so it’s time to get your Quidditch robes and broomsticks at the ready and head down to the pitch.
