Listen: Evanna Lynch Lends Her Voice to “From the Wizarding Archive”

If there’s one thing Harry Potter fans can’t get enough of, it’s information about the wizarding world. Fortunately, Audible has released an audiobook full of just that sort of content. And, even more luckily, it features one of our favorite Potter cast alumna.

From the Wizarding Archive, released on August 29, is a compendium of wizarding lore that longtime fans may recognize from the virtual watering hole that was formerly known as Pottermore. Audible combined 80 anecdotes and articles with sound design and musical composition by Sara Carvalho. Listeners can expect a wealth of backstories from both characters and creatures, as well as fascinating information on everything from wizarding history to magical cultures of countries around the world. Suffice it to say, Hermione Granger would have been all over this.

If that weren’t enough, Evanna Lynch is heavily featured throughout the audiobook. Legendary for her portrayal of Luna Lovegood, Lynch is also a successful author in her own right, and she put pen to paper for this project as well by contributing the foreword. You can give it a listen below.

Listeners will also hear Lynch’s distinctive voice throughout the project as one of the main narrators, along with Hugh Quarshie (Mustafa Kama in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald), Finlay Robertson, and Lara Sawalha.

Lynch gave a recent interview to CNET, in which she reflected on the audiobook and her continued role in the world of Harry Potter. She described it as a safe place for her, especially given her long history as a fan. She also credited audiobooks as an extension of the sort of value reading provides.

Reading is still a uniquely personal experience, and more and more it’s the only place I can find enough quiet to hear myself think. I think audiobooks help preserve that intimate relationship of reading a book because it is just you, the story and the narrator, but of course it is slightly more convenient for busy people doing laundry and walking the dog! It’s not total immersion, but close.

You can watch this interview released by Syfy to get more details on the project, along with some fun wizarding facts fans may encounter.
