The Harry Potter flagship store in New York City has announced its holiday celebrations, from new decorations throughout the store to festive interactive experiences and a charity donation campaign inspired by a fan favorite.
Beginning today, the store will be in full holiday mode. The window displays have been decorated with magical gingerbread scenes, while the inside now reflects a festive wonderland. New products are also featured in the magic, from Weasley-style jumpers to Chocolate Frog ornaments, Hogwarts-themed mugs, and Hedwig-inspired hoodies. If you’re looking for something more on-the-go, the store’s Butterbeer Bar has introduced a festive menu, which includes limited-time treats, like Mrs. Weasley’s Pie and the Golden Egg.
The store has also created new interactive experiences. There’s a photo opportunity with a life-size Hagrid and a new wand experience in the store. The store now boasts eight Christmas trees, all with their own individual decorations, which link to form a scavenger hunt. Customers can join the hunt by picking up a map by the door.
If a mapped treasure trail isn’t enough to guide you around, the store also offers complimentary 30-minute tours of all of the festivities, which highlight the most magical sections of holiday cheer, as well as some real, iconic props that were used across the series. The first tours set off today, but you’ll have to be quick to get on one yourself. They are offered on a first-come, first-served basis with only ten spots per group. Every Saturday, groups will set off from the Butterbeer Bar each hour from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The store isn’t keeping the holiday celebrations to itself. It has partnered with the New York–based charity Knock Knock Give a Sock to collect sock donations for local shelters. Socks are often listed among the most needed items on shelter lists yet don’t get donated enough. As a dedication to Dobby, the store has set up a system in which customers can bring a pair of socks to any register and have them donated to the charity on their behalf. The socks can be brought from home or purchased in store and given on the day. Harry Potter New York will make a contribution for every pair of socks donated.

The store is also hosting a special event for the launch of the latest Wizarding World TV show, Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking. The show launches in the US on November 14, with episodes streaming once a week after that. The store will offer free cookies for any customers visiting on November 14 to spread the celebratory mood.

Interactive experiences:
Inspired by the Christmas trees found in the Great Hall, Harry Potter New York has unveiled eight uniquely decorated Christmas trees of their own. Set in different sections of the store, each tree is adorned with its own set of charming ornaments and twinkling baubles to spotlight elements of the wizarding world.
Customers can ensure they admire every tree by embarking on a Christmas tree trail scavenger hunt. Upon entering the store, fans can pick up a tree trail map to guide their experience.
Guests are invited on a broomstick flying adventure where they can get a photo taken flying over a snowy Hogwarts scene.
Visitors can also capture the holiday magic by snapping a festive photo alongside a life-sized Hagrid surrounded by snow and leave with a treasured seasonal memory.
To continue keeping the magic alive, a new interactive wand experience, coming to the store soon, will be sure to delight every Harry Potter fan.

Sock donation
In the spirit of giving, Harry Potter New York has partnered with local charity Knock Knock Give a Sock to collect sock donations for those in need at local shelters. Socks are the most needed yet least donated article of clothing, so fans can join Dobby the Elf and Harry Potter New York to spread warmth and kindness this season. Visitors can donate by bringing a new pair of socks to any register for an employee to add to the collection bin, beginning today through December 25.
Socks must be in pairs and can be any size/type. Socks do not need to be purchased at Harry Potter New York, but can be! For each pair of socks donated, Harry Potter New York will make a contribution to Knock Knock Give a Sock.
Store tours
To celebrate the new holiday offerings, fans can enjoy complimentary 30-minute tours highlighting the store’s most enchanting areas including real iconic props from the movies.
Tours will kick off today, and then every Saturday following until December 25, starting every hour from 9 AM to 6 PM, beginning at the Butterbeer Bar. Don’t miss out – tours are first-come, first-served and limited to 10 people per tour!
