“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” Is Coming to Brazil and the Netherlands
The award-winning play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is going to be launching in two new locations – Brazil and the Netherlands – in what will be the play’s ninth and tenth productions worldwide.
Cursed Child Brazil will be launching in 2025. It will be performed in Portuguese and will be the first version of the play showing in Latin America. Vinícius Munhoz, CEO of VME and producer of the Brazilian production, made a statement:
Bringing ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ to Brazil is a milestone not just for theater but for entertainment as a whole in the country. Brazil is the third-largest global market for the franchise, and fans here have created a unique connection with this magical universe that transcends generations.
Fans in the Netherlands will have to wait a little longer for Cursed Child to launch there – it will premiere in Dutch in 2026. The CEO of production company Stage Entertainment, Arthur de Bok, spoke about his delight at bringing the show to the Netherlands:
We are proud to bring ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ to the Netherlands. A globally beloved story about friendship and making your own choices in life. The show offers an intense experience for the audience, with stunning effects that bring the magic of ‘Harry Potter’ to life on stage.

Producers of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender have said they are “thrilled to be launching two new productions.”
The story and themes of ‘Harry Potter’ – friendship, self-discovery, courage, sacrifice, love and forgiveness, and of course growing up and the challenges of parenting – resonates with so many people around the world, and we are excited to be able to share our play with new audiences in Brazil and the Netherlands. We look forward to collaborating with our producing partners VME and Stage Entertainment to bring the magic of ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ to two new countries.
Both the Brazilian and the Dutch productions are set to be performed as the reimaged one-part version of the play, but it is yet to be confirmed whether this will be the original one-part version or the shortened one-part version that is now showing in the United States.
Having kicked off in Chicago this past September, the touring production of Cursed Child boasts a shortened runtime (less than three hours) compared to the previous one-part version, which was three-and-a-half hours. In November, Cursed Child Broadway began showing this shorter version as well.
More details about the productions are going to be announced at a later date, and we assume this will include information about the plays’ lengths and venues, so keep your wands at the ready for further developments.
