Tom Felton Joins Formula E Event and Presents BAFTA to Warwick Davis

Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, was recently announced among a group of celebrities who will take part in an incredible motorsports experience with Formula E.

The Evo Sessions will allow these celebrities to drive the Formula E GEN3 Evo, the quickest electric race car in the world. Each celebrity will be paired with one of the race teams participating in the Formula E World Championship, including McLaren, Porsche, and Nissan, although it hasn’t been confirmed which team Tom will be joining for the weekend. Other celebrities involved in the event include fellow actor Lucien Lavsicount, soccer player Sergio Agüero, and entrepreneur Brooklyn Peltz Beckham.

All of the celebrities are currently undergoing a six-week intense training program, including driver coaching, simulator sessions, physical training, and engineering briefings, as well as hardware customization and fitting. This will all lead to a two-day track event at the Miami International Autodrome in Miami, Florida, on March 5 and 6, 2025. The event will be streamed on the Formula E social media channels over the weekend, and all footage from both the training room and the track itself will be collated into a rookie-to-racer feature documentary that will be released later in the year.

Tom stated that he was “beyond thrilled” to be given this opportunity, describing how learning to drive was the “most liberating experience [he’s] ever had” and calling it “better than a broomstick.”

I’ll play it cool on the day, obviously, but my inner nine year-old will be screaming with joy the moment I even get close to the Formula E car – let alone when I actually drive it! It’ll be a pinch myself, dream-come-true moment, and I will make the most of every second.

This isn’t the only recent news on Tom. On Sunday, he was given the honor of awarding fellow Harry Potter alum Warwick Davis the BAFTA Fellowship. Tom’s speech mentioned how Davis had taught him his first spell at Hogwarts and thanked Davis for the life lessons he has passed onto him. Davis’s heartfelt acceptance speech included references to his late wife, who passed away last year. Davis was presented with the award as a result of his contribution to British film, especially the work of his management company, Willow.

Congrats to Warwick Davis for winning the BAFTA Fellowship. Hopefully, we’ll be congratulating Tom soon for a victory on track as well! Will you be tuning in to the race weekend?

Fans will be able to follow each participant’s journey through real-time content on the Formula E social media channels across March 5-6, while the action will be captured for a special feature documentary coming later in 2025.

Tom Felton, said: “I’ve grown up loving wheels my entire life. From my dad teaching me to ride a bicycle to putting my first supercar poster on my bedroom wall. When I learned to drive it was the most liberating experience I’ve ever had. Better than a broomstick even!

“And from my dad teaching me to feather the clutch in our 1979 Ford Fiesta, which he had taught my three older brothers to drive, to driving my first sports car; nothing could compare to the excitement of being seated in arguably the planet’s most exciting vehicle. I’m beyond thrilled to be given the opportunity to drive the Formula E car. I’ll play it cool on the day, obviously, but my inner nine year-old will be screaming with joy the moment I even get close to the Formula E car – let alone when I actually drive it! It’ll be a pinch myself, dream-come-true moment, and I will make the most of every second.”

Supercar Blondie said: “I’ve driven some of the most incredible cars in the world, but getting behind the wheel of a Formula E GEN3 Evo will be an experience on a whole new level. The pro drivers are incredibly skilled and the cars are beyond fast, so I’m looking forward to learning just what it takes to be a Formula E driver and bring my audience along for the ride. I’ll likely be the slowest Formula E driver ever, but I’ll definitely have fun behind the wheel!”

JUCA, one of Latin America’s most influential automotive content creators, has built a massive following through his passion for cars. He creates thrilling test drives and has a deep knowledge of motorsports. With millions of subscribers and a dedicated community, he has redefined car culture for a generation of enthusiasts.

JUCA said: "Cars have been my world for as long as I can remember, and getting to drive the GEN3 Evo is something I never imagined. Seeing this machine in action at the Mexico City E-Prix was mind-blowing, but actually getting behind the wheel – that’s next level! Formula E represents the future of racing, and I can’t wait to experience the raw power, precision, and adrenaline of this sport firsthand – and, of course, share every moment with my audience!"

WHAT IS EVO SESSIONS?
Over the course of six weeks, the selected personalities will be embedded within the 11 elite Formula E race teams and schooled by professional Formula E drivers as part of their preparations.

All participants will receive an intense training program that will include simulator sessions, physical conditioning, driver coaching, hardware customization and engineering briefings. They will experience first-hand how tough and complicated it is to prepare, train and drive like a world-class racing driver.

The preparation leads up to a two-day track event at the Miami International Autodrome (Hard Rock Stadium) on March 5-6, 2025. This is when the participants will experience the breathtaking performance of the all-new GEN3 Evo race car on the track.

The entire journey from rookie-to-racer will be captured for social media content through the creators’ lens, and shared across both their own and Formula E social media channels. The whole experience will offer fans a rare and exclusive behind-the-scenes, access-all-areas viewpoint into the world of Formula E; not from the perspective of the grandstands, but directly behind the wheel. A feature-length documentary will follow later in 2025.
