Lord Voldemort named “Top Villain of the Decade”
Harry Potter fans all know that Harry’s arch nemesis Lord Voldemort, otherwise known as You-Know-Who, is dangerous and powerful enough to take over the world. His presence hangs over all seven books and eight movies. FemaleFirst, a British magazine and gossip site, has named the Dark wizard as one of the top villains of the decade alongside The Joker (The Dark Knight) and Anton Chigurh (No Country for Old Men).
Terrifying enough on paper, Lord Voldemort is brought to life by Ralph Fiennes in the movies, creating one of the decade’s most well-known villains. The image of the fully reborn Lord Voldemort is an iconic image, known all over the world.
FemaleFirst says,
Fiennes really manages to capture the emotion[al] detachment of this character and how power [is] almost like a drug for Voldemort. And yet Fiennes never allows this character to descend into silliness. Sometimes we see actors struggle to keep blockbuster villains from going to over the top and descending in farce; that is no such problem for the English actor.
The site goes on to say,
The battle scenes between the two characters are some of the best moments in the film [because] Voldemort is desperate to see [off] this threat to him once and for all.
The battle scenes between Harry and Lord Voldemort are certainly powerful and have become iconic in the last decade.
Do you agree that Lord Voldemort is one of the top villains of the decade? Who else would you name?
