Video: Ralph Fiennes talks about directorial debut “Coriolanus” to be released Friday
On the “CBS This Morning” show, legendary actor Ralph Fiennes – who portrayed Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter series – discusses his directorial debut and title role for his new film Coriolanus, which hits theaters nationwide this Friday.
Coriolanus is a modern day spin of the classical tragedy written by William Shakespeare in which a banished hero of Rome allies with a sworn enemy in order to take his revenge on the city.
Aside from his role in the ‘Potter’ franchise, Ralph Fiennes is best known for his Shakespearean parts he has played on stage, including the role of Coriolanus. He felt this play would make a fantastic political film in a modern day spin of the original that includes “economic unrest, unhappy population, conflict, and it has a crisis of leadership.”
Ralph Fiennes was also recently nominated for a BAFTA award for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer. Congratulations Ralph!
