A Recent “Potter” Proposal Catches the Snitch – and Our Eye!
Given their daring previous encounters in skydiving to trapeze lessons, Dennis and Tesa sealed their fates on August 3, 2013, with a proposal taken right out of their wildest imagining of a Care of Magical Creatures experience.
He had me meet him at the Chicago Shedd Aquarium, where… [he] had a friend who worked at the Shedd who was able to get us all[-]access passes to the entire Aquarium. Aside from my love for Harry Potter, the Shedd Aquarium is my favourite place in the entire world, and the [b]eluga [w]hale tank is my favourite exhibit. If only Hagrid focused on Care for Aquatic Magical Creatures I would have been his favourite student! We decided to check out the Beluga Encounter… After a brief introduction to beluga whales and their habitat we were able to enter their arctic cold tanks.
We got to interact with them as they showed us many different tricks, including kissing us on the cheek. The last trick the trainer showed us was one I’ll never forget! She threw out a box, which the beluga whale pushed with her forehead and brought right in front of us. My fiancé picked up the box and opened it. He pulled out a handmade [G]olden [S]nitch, and inside it said ‘Tesa, will you marry me?’ with a beautiful custom-made ring in the centre.
I could barely keep the tears out as I said yes to my future husband! So much thought and creativity went into planning this amazing proposal that was so personal to us. Thank you, JK Rowling, for making us believe in magic and above all inspiring us to reach beyond our wildest imagination to put a smile on each other’s faces and fill our hearts with everlasting love and happiness.
