Becoming Dobby: Weird but free ~ Yes, Dobby is weird, but he is also free. Free to help other dismissed elves. Free to rescue the Chosen One. Free to do the good he was prevented from doing when he was the Malfoy’s slave….
Becoming Harry Potter: Quick to forgive ~ Harry and Ron have been at odds from page 285 (give or take) to page 358! Harry, bewildered and frightened, turns to his best friend (one of them) for comfort only to receive rejection. And yet, before Ron can even say, “I’m sorry,” Harry forgives him….
HogCon Day 2: Dumbledore’s Army panel discussion continued ~ Scribble: “Just one more question, Arabella. But first, for those of you just joining us for the DA discussion panel, welcome. Thank you for deciding to grace us with your presence.” (Says in an uncanny impression of Professor McGonagall). “Now, as I was saying, I have one last question. This one is for Mrs. Hermione Weasley…”
Becoming Hermione Granger: Toast Deliverer ~ What Hermione bringing Harry toast says about her and how a simple act shows the power of the Hermione-Harry friendship…
Becoming Albus Dumbledore: Judge of Beards ~ Fred and George, along with some of their peers, have broke Dumbledore’s specific warning and decree for underage wizards not to submit their names into the Goblet. He could be livid—certainly if this were Umbridge the boys would be carving, “I Shall Not Break Arbitrary Rules,” into their hands. But, Dumbledore chooses instead to complement the boys’ beards. Why?…
As we open Day 2 here in the Room of Requirement—the original meeting grounds of the infamous DA—a panel of the surviving members of the DA awaits questions from the crowd…
Over the next several weeks, a handful of MuggleNet staff members are going to be ranking the seven books of Potterdom from the best to the least best.
Becoming Harry Potter: Impervious to Imperio ~ In his first lesson on the Unforgivable Curses, Mad-Eye Moody (Crouch Jr.) tells the class that, “it takes real strength of character, and not everyone’s got it,” to be impervious to the Imperious Curse. Clearly, Harry has very strong character because he was impervious to Voldemort’s Imperious Curse.
So, how do we, those of us who want to be a bit more like this boy wizard we so admire, develop the strength of character to become impervious? I think we can find the answer, or at least part of the answer, in the words of our favorite Headmaster…
