We’ve posted before about the Matt Lewis’s support of philanthropic causes, including the Walk of Smiles earlier this year, but this fall the Harry Potter star is outdoing himself with his contributions to charity.
Lumos, the charity founded and chaired by J.K. Rowling to end the systematic placement of children in so called “orphanages” around the world, has teamed up with LeakyCon, a fan conference which grew from the website The Leaky Cauldron, to bring its message and mission to the core worldwide Harry Potter fan community.

In honor of J.K. Rowling’s 48th birthday, the creators of last year’s “Light Up Jo’s Birthday with Lumos” fundraiser have decided to raise even more money for the author’s charity. Lumos was founded by Rowling in 2005 after seeing an article in the paper that reported on institutionalized children. Moved by the shocking conditions and treatment of these children, she felt compelled to do something.

This afternoon Warwick Davis appeared at Jubilee Square in London to help the charity LinkAble (formerly Link Leisure) celebrate its new name and the opening of its new building. LinkAble’s mission is to provide social and recreational activities to people with learning disabilities.
On Monday, Rupert Grint partcipated in a truck pull event to benefit the The Door Youth Project, which offers mentoring and support for troubled teens. The event, held in Stroud, was a family affair for Rupert, attended by both of his parents and his sister Samantha, whose band was performing at the benefit.

The Harry Potter Alliance (HPA) has just one week left in their Accio Books drive and they want to finish it out in style. This year, HPA members have collected over 15,000 books, but we know that they can do so much better! So we want you to help the HPA bring that number up to 25,000 before their campaign ends next weekend.
Meg and Jill created this beautiful pin design and turned it into a plan of action to help their favorite charity, This Star Won’t Go Out Foundation (TSWGO). All of the proceeds from these 1.5 inch pins will be donated to this foundation, which was established by the parents of the beloved and amazing Nerdfighter, Esther Earl, and from there, the money will help families whose children are living with cancer.
