The revealing of the seventh re-designed Harry Potter US book cover by artist Kazu Kibuishi took place this morning at Scholastic’s headquarters in New York City. The ceremony coincided with Harry Potter’s (and author J.K. Rowling’s) birthday, and marked the end of a drawn-out campaign of controlled releases put on by Scholastic in the previous months.

At today’s unveiling of the new Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows book cover by Scholastic, artist Kazu Kibuishi also revealed the image that occurs when the spines of the seven newly-redesigned Potter novels are put together.

Elmhurst, Illinois might not be an obvious choice for an American version of Hogwarts, but next week, this Chicago suburb will host Harry Potter Camp for children ages 8-12. According to their website, there are still spots open for those wishing to attend the daytime summer session beginning July 8 through July 19.
Entertainment Weekly has just released a new list of their picks for the top ten greatest books of all time and the Potter series comes in seventh! The magazine calls the Potter books “the richest coming-of-age tale ever.”
