Clare Melinsky, who illustrated the 2010 UK versions of the “Harry Potter” books (also known as the “Signature” editions), has spoken about some of the inspiration behind her drawings. The Scottish artist, who is known for her “chunky and colourful lino cuts,” is currently part of a three-day exhibition in London, which links Scotland with London.

We recently announced that the “Harry Potter” books will be given a makeover by illustrator, Jonny Duddle. The novels will be published in conjunction with Pottermore and include extra information that is available on the site. Jonny has previously illustrated a range of picture books, including “The Pirate Next Door”, and has worked for Aardman, the creators of “Wallace and Gromit”. In a new interview Jonny has talked about taking on the challenge and his favorite “Potter” characters, and he also offers advice for illustrators, among much more.
Bloomsbury will publish” J.K. Rowling: A Bibliography”, by Philip W. Errington, this winter. The book seems to be more of an academic book and collection of documents, rather than something for the casual fan – but it certainly sounds interesting for the dedicated “Potter” fan! Two original front-cover illustrations from the Bloomsbury editions of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban will go to auction from Nate D. Sanders on March 28. The works were created by artist Cliff Wright using watercolor and ink for the 1998 and 1999 releases of the books.

It’s World Book Day in the UK today, which promotes and celebrates reading, particularly for children and young people.
