The When You Wish Upon a Star children’s charity out of the UK granted the wish of a group of sick children to visit Hogwarts by taking them out for a day to one of the most iconic “Harry Potter” filming locations.
Billy, the owl who played Errol, the Weasley family’s owl in the “Potter” films, is to take part in a moonlight walk next month in aid of charity.
Rupert Grint has been named an ambassador for the Starlight Children’s Foundation, an organization similar to Make-A-Wish that grants wishes to seriously and terminally ill children.
This week, the Harry Potter Alliance launched its annual “Accio Books!” campaign, which through May 31 will be hosting a variety events across more than 70 of its chapters to support its yearly book drive. Since 2009, the Accio Books! campaign has collected over 100,000 books for underprivileged and underserved readers. This year, they plan to break all prior records with a goal of receiving 30,000 books donated.
Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley) is just one of many celebrities and thousands of people around the world who’s backing and taking part in “Live Below the Line,” a campaign run by the Global Poverty Project. The idea of said campaign is to raise awareness of poverty by living off of “$1.50 of food and drink for one to five days.” The challenge will run between the dates of April 28 to May 2.

As seen in the picture above, Jo attended the official launch of the site, which took place at the Scottish Parliament this week. The site is a “directory on disabled access that we were keen to share with others with accessibility needs.”

Real life married couple Imelda Staunton OBE (Dolores Umbridge) and Downton Abbey’s Jim Carter have recently become patrons of the charity Greenfingers. This particular charity specializes in “creating magical gardens in children’s hospices across the UK.” Greenfingers is currently partaking in a project called the Rosy Cheeks Appeal, aiming to raise money to fund for at least 10 more gardens.
