Dear Guardian, Dumbledore Is Many Things, But “Kind” is Not One of Them

It’s been a year since the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley opened its doors. Today we look back on our favorite parts with some insight from the people who made it happen.
How Sirius Black’s death helped us process our own losses and feel less alone.
Many of the children who grew up with the “Harry Potter” series now have children of their own. Parents are choosing to share the world of “Potter” with their children through reading the books to them, choosing to decorate nurseries with a “Potter” theme, and some opting to surround their children with “Harry Potter” clothes, toys, and even conferences! Recently, a more unusual way of sharing the world of Harry has been brought to my attention… “Harry Potter”-themed babywearing!
Everyone knows that “Harry Potter” fans are some of the best people in the world. You can walk into a room of strangers at a “Harry Potter” event, and by the time you leave you know most of their names and haven’t spent a minute not having anyone to talk to since you arrived. There’s a certain connection we have all formed with each other through these special books that is really interesting. In light of MuggleNet’s upcoming convention, I thought I would reflect on a few of my favorite memories of interactions I’ve had with other fans at “Potter” events in the past.
Have you ever had someone close to you experience the world of “Harry Potter” for the first time?
Whether you’ve grown up alongside the “Potter” series, come to it in your later years, or are just starting to read the first couple of pages in “Sorcerer’s Stone”, I think it’s safe to say that you’re going to find yourself with more take-aways than you have the time to sort through. Here are some of the lessons Harry has taught me about death.
I packed enough stuff to fill an apartment, even though I was moving into one half of a closet-sized room. I had the essentials, such as clothes, bedding, a suitcase dedicated solely to shoes, and a box of food for the nights when the dining hall dinners looked inedible, but mixed in with my textbooks were all seven volumes about the boy wizard’s adventures.
Pottermore’s Christmas announcement led to confusion for “Harry Potter” fans, but it wasn’t their fault. Media sensationalism is leading readers astray, and this is hardly the first time. This is one journalist’s argument on how the media is treating “Harry Potter” fans unfairly.
