October 9-10, 2015, thousands of nerds descended upon Minneapolis, Minnesota, for the first NerdCon. Read the roundup of the event that brought people together to celebrate storytelling in all forms through panels, performances, games, music, and community.
You may have noticed that around here, we have, well, sort of a thing for wizarding school and magic. So you won’t be surprised to learn that we LOVED author Rainbow Rowell’s latest book, Carry On (okay, we love all of her books, but this one is about WIZARDS and WIZARD SCHOOL and ROMANCE). Not only did we love the book, we were also lucky enough to attend the book’s launch in New York City at the Powerhouse Arena!
Superheroes, space warriors, and wizards all came out at Robercon 2015, and MuggleNet was there in the midst of it all. Robercon, an annual sci-fi and fantasy convention in Binghamton, New York, advertises itself as a place to “let your geek flag fly.” Hundreds of people turned out to take Robercon up on that offer. Author Tamora Pierce served as the guest of honor for the weekend, speaking on panels, answering questions from eager fans, and doing book signings. Of course, there were plenty of panels and activities for fans of J.K. Rowling’s magical world to attend as well.
The Phelps twins were at Salt Lake City Comic Con this week, answering fan questions and having a great time. But what’s this about the Weasleys hitting Wayne Manor? And what rumor did they dispel?

This past weekend, Rupert Grint, Tom Felton, and the Phelps twins attended Fan Expo Canada in Toronto! It was Rupert’s first-ever convention appearance, and MuggleNet was there to cover all the action.
This past weekend, MuggleNet again had the opportunity to attend Wizard World’s Chicago Comic Con at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois. Just as we have done last year, we scoured the convention floor in search of those fan attendees who were dressed as characters from Harry Potter’s world. See all of their fabulous costumes here!
Saturday, August 15, will herald the third annual Chi-Wizard Tournament, a “Harry Potter”-themed pub crawl established five years ago in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, under the creative tutelage of Elyse Hertko. She decided to celebrate the release of “Deathly Hallows – Part 1” with an appropriately themed pub crawl just between friends. However, that crawl soon grew and turned into a phenomenon.
