Want to be a part of something special? We are a collaboration of Wizarding World fans passionate about making MuggleNet the best source of news and information on the Web. We serve a diverse community of fans and want our volunteers and content to reflect this. If you are not interested in a staff position but would like to submit an editorial to be featured on the site, please visit our “Owl Post” page. MuggleNet is proud of its geographic diversity, and while 40% of staff identify as LGBTQIA+, we are predominantly made up of White women. We are particularly interested in amplifying the voices of individuals who fall outside this category.

MuggleNet: Journalist

As the #1 Wizarding World Resource Since 1999, MuggleNet is an important and reliable source of Wizarding World news for fans around the globe. Our journalism coverage includes Fantastic Beasts, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, updates on film cast and crew members, and so much more! If you love writing, love seeking out the next story or scoop, and want to combine that love with a little magic, we need you!

Journalists are required to write a minimum of six posts per month. This role will require 5–6 hours of time each month, in addition to monthly meetings.

We are seeking 6 volunteers to join our News Team. Think you're right for the position?

We need someone who exhibits the following characteristics:

  • Vast knowledge of and interest in all aspects of the Harry Potter fandom and Fantastic Beasts series
  • Excellent knowledge of written English
  • Regularly available
  • Supportive team player
  • Able to take constructive criticism
  • Interest in growing as a writer

  • Communicative

MuggleNet: Social Media Representative

We are looking for passionate Wizarding World fans to help promote MuggleNet across our social media platforms in new, creative ways. Specific interest in social media is required for this position. This role will require 4–5 hours of time each month, in addition to quarterly meetings.

We are seeking 5 volunteers to join our Social Media Team. Think you're right for the position?

We need someone who exhibits the following characteristics:

  • Familiarity with Facebook, Instagram, and/or Twitter
  • Creativity! Humor! Sass!

MuggleNet: Social Media Video Creator

Do you check your TikTok constantly? Do ideas for your Reels come to you at all hours of the day (and night)? If you have experience with phone-based video creation and editing, MuggleNet wants you for the position! This role will require 5–6 hours of time each month, in addition to quarterly meetings.

We are seeking 3–5 volunteers to join our team. Think you're right for the position?

We need someone who exhibits the following characteristics:

MuggleNet: Video Producer

Do you watch every single video that comes across your Facebook timeline? Do you follow a ton of YouTubers? Do you ever think to yourself, "I could do that!" If you have experience with long-form video creation and editing, MuggleNet wants you for the position! This role will require 7–8 hours of time each month, in addition to quarterly meetings.

We are seeking 3–5 volunteers to join our Video Team. Think you're right for the position?

We need someone who exhibits the following characteristics:

  • CREATIVE! Forward thinker! Hysterical.

  • Able to take constructive criticism
  • Keen interest to grow as a producer and editor
  • Be willing to take on a challenge

  • A strong understanding of video basics such as aspect ratios, fps, sequencing, and avoiding jump cuts
  • Able to both film original content and edit existing footage

MuggleNet: Campaign Producer

MuggleNet's Campaigns team creates themed multimedia content to engage our audience of over one million followers. Campaign Producers write posts, devise clever concepts and copy for graphics and videos, and support MuggleNet's mission to uplift marginalized communities by planning charity events. Each month is a little different, and campaigns may be seasonal, educational, or humorous.

We are seeking 4 volunteers to join our Campaigns Team. Think you're right for the position?

MuggleNet: Contributions Editor

Vehement defenses of particular characters, controversial Sortings of the latest hit TV show, literary criticism... We've got it all at MuggleNet! While we have an Editorial Team dedicated to writing original content for the site, we also frequently receive editorial submissions from MuggleNet staff members from other teams, from our non-staff columnists, and from readers and fans around the world. MuggleNet is looking for someone to coordinate both internal and external submissions and see them through to publication on the site. If you have a passion for reading wizarding world content and reviewing creative writing, then you could be our next Contributions Editor!

We are seeking 1 volunteer to join our Editorial Team. Think you're right for the position?

MuggleNet: Editorialist

Do you have a passion for the Wizarding World fandom that is rivaled by few? Enjoy writing and want to combine that love with a little magic? Then a position on the MuggleNet Editorial Team might be for you! MuggleNet is looking for passionate wizarding world fans to help create fun, eye-catching content for Potterheads around the globe. From editorials and listicles to satire and research papers, if you have an innovative mind, we want you! This role will require 1–2 hours of time each month, in addition to quarterly meetings.

We are seeking 3–4 volunteers to join our Editorial Team. Think you're right for the position?

We need someone who exhibits the following characteristics:

  • Have excellent written knowledge of American English
  • Have time to commit to completing requirements and participating in other site activities
  • Be a supportive team member
  • Enthusiasm for just about everything wizarding world
  • Ability to work in a timely fashion and meet deadlines
  • Ability to take constructive criticism
  • Interest in growing as a writer

Editorialists have the following requirements:

  • Write at least 1 post per month
  • Earn at least 16 points per quarter (different post types are worth different point values)
  • Attend a quarterly brainstorming meeting (online, every 3 months)
  • Be active on Workplace and keep up to date with notifications from the site/team

MuggleNet: Graphic Designer

If you're a master at Illustrator and Photoshop, we want you on the MuggleNet team! We are looking for creative wizards who are interested in working with all the teams on MuggleNet to create eye-catching graphics and campaigns. Our Designers have been published on media outlets across the web and in print, including Newsweek and London Time Out Magazine.

We are seeking 2–3 volunteers to join our Graphics Team. Think you're right for the position?

We need someone who exhibits the following characteristics:

Intermediate/Master of Adobe Suite, specifically Illustrator and Photoshop
Up to date with modern trends and treatments
Able to work in a timely fashion and meet strict deadlines
Self-starter (does not need to be asked to do something)
Excellent teamwork skills, good communicator
Listens to constructive criticism and does not take edits/notes personally
Highly organized, works closely with teams to keep projects cataloged
Knowledge/Use of Google Drive and/or Dropbox (preferred)
Time commitment varies, but you should expect a minimum of 8–10 hours per month

MuggleNet: Marketing Assistant

Are you interested in working with global brands and partners? Does the idea of connecting to others via social media excite you? Then this position just might be for you. Marketing Assistants will work directly with our partnerships coordinator on giveaways and promotions. This role will require 8–12 hours of time each month, in addition to quarterly meetings.

We are seeking 2–4 volunteers to join our Marketing Team. Think you're right for the position?

We need someone who exhibits the following characteristics:

  • Ability to be available at a moment's notice - lots of spare time and flexibility to dedicate to achieving perfection
  • Experienced with all major social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), including the abilities to post in real time and schedule ahead
  • MUST BE detail-oriented, including but not limited to vigilance with checking images to ensure they are crisp and clean; making sure tags for partner outlets are correct; clicking links and embedded videos to ensure functionality
  • Communicative, reaches out to and works with coordinators and other team members to set realistic expectations of projected post schedules
  • Witty, funny, captivating social media commentary to capture our followers' attention for promotions and reviews/giveaways is a plus
  • Keen awareness of recognizing something that needs to be changed or updated; feels comfortable in stepping forward and taking the lead in offering suggestions on how to fix or ways to improve going forward.

MuggleNet: Web Content Editor

Do you love keeping up with breaking news and discovering wizarding history? Do you have a passion for web design or want to learn basic HTML code? If so, a position on the MuggleNet Content Team might be for you!

On the Content Team, we like to think of ourselves as a family of free house-elves passionately working behind the scenes to keep MuggleNet and its archive of posts up to date, magically tidy, and functional. Web Content Editors are not responsible for writing news articles or editorials. This role will require 2–3 hours of time each month, in addition to monthly meetings.

We are seeking 2–3 volunteers to join our Content Team. Think you’re right for the position?

We need someone who exhibits the following characteristics:

Excellent understanding of written American English
Comfortable writing short page descriptions and introductions
Know or are willing to learn basic HTML code
Experience with WordPress preferred
Have an eye for detail
Comfortable navigating the Internet
Enthusiastic even when performing monotonous tasks
Supportive team players
Enjoy being challenged
