Welcome to April! In this week’s Role Call, we get extended looks at several of our favorite “Potter” cast members in their upcoming roles, weaving through magical realms and dramatic realities. Exciting! We now know who will be playing the character of Scorpius Malfoy in the upcoming stage play, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”. According to the UK casting website Spotlight, Anthony Boyle will be taking on the role of Draco Malfoy and Astoria Greengrass’s son.
Imelda Staunton (Professor Dolores Umbridge) and Sir Kenneth Branagh (Professor Gilderoy Lockhart) have both received nominations for the 2016 Olivier Awards. Other nominees include Sophie Thompson (Mafalda Hopkirk in “Deathly Hallows – Part 1”), Jamie Parker (Harry in “Cursed Child”) and Sonia Friedman (Producer of “Cursed Child”).
It was only recently that we reported to you the full cast announcement for “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”. One of the few cast members whom we were already aware of was Noma Dumezweni, who will be playing a grown-up Hermione Granger. She now talks her excitement about playing one of our favorite literary characters.
Ever since the first casting announcement for “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” was released back in December, fans have been eagerly waiting to discover who would make up the rest of the cast. Well, we don’t have to wait any longer – the full cast has been revealed today! What’s more, it has also been revealed that rehearsals have begun!
In what comes as a surprise to no one, the script book for “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts I & II” has topped bestseller charts since its announcement yesterday.
Only a couple of weeks ago, we were cautiously optimistic that “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” would be published as a book sooner than we had originally hoped, meaning that those fans unable to make the trip to London to see the show wouldn’t be missing out on reading the next chapter of Harry’s (and Albus’s) story. Now, we have confirmation – the full script of “Cursed Child” WILL be published this summer!
Actor Jamie Parker, who will be taking on the role of an older Harry in the upcoming stage production “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”, and former “Potter” alumna Katie Leung (Cho Chang) have spoken out about the casting of actress Noma Dumezweni in the role of Hermione.
There’s already been one big piece of news from this weekend’s Celebration of Harry Potter in Orlando, but surprises for fans aren’t over yet! Today, a special sneak preview of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” was released at the Celebration and online!
