Earlier this week, it was revealed that Emma Watson and Tom Hanks, co-stars in the upcoming film “The Circle”, will be featured on the April cover of “Esquire” as a part of their “Women & Men” issue. In this issue, Emma Watson discusses the gender wage gap in Hollywood, her HeForShe campaign, and why feminism should be everyone’s concern.
Emma appeared on stage today to launch the first ever HeForShe Arts Week in New York. She chatted with Forest Whitaker, an artist, social activist, and UNESCO Special Enovy for Peace, about gender inequality and the arts.
A little under two weeks since HeForShe launched its new website intended to help supporters organize gender equality initiatives in their own communities, it has been announced that the campaign will hold a New York Arts Week this spring in conjunction with the City of New York and the Public Theater. During the week, partner organizations such as museums, galleries, and performance venues will spotlight the work of HeForShe and UN Women, and a percentage of the proceeds will be donated to the organization.
Hot on the heels of being named one of “Forbes”‘s “30 Under 30” and announcing the launch of a new HeForShe website aimed at grassroots organizing on her Facebook page, Emma Watson and HeForShe have appeared at the 2016 World Economic Conference in Davos, Sweden, to deliver their first-ever Parity Report.
Earlier today, “The Hollywood Reporter” released the nominees for the eighth annual Shorty Awards. Among the hundreds of nominees were J.K. Rowling and Emma Watson for their work on social media. Learn more about their nominations!
Since Emma Watson launched HeForShe last September, the program has become a global movement fighting for gender equality. Now, as announced on Watson’s Facebook page, HeForShe has a brand new website. The announcement is accompanied by a brief interview with Emma, which highlights that HeForShe is not an awareness campaign, but is mission-focused in its goal of achieving gender equality.
