- Cursed Child
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is preparing for a series of cast changes on Broadway, including the arrival of several new performers, the departure of Tom Felton, and the highly anticipated return of Rupert Grint to the Wizarding World.
Producers have announced the new Broadway company, which will begin performances at New York City’s Lyric Theatre on November 10. While several principal cast members will remain with the production, some of the biggest changes will take place in January and February 2027.
John Skelley and Emmet Smith will continue playing Harry Potter and his son Albus, respectively. Rachel Christopher will also remain as Hermione Granger, alongside Janae Hammond as Rose Granger-Weasley and Kristen Martin as Delphi Diggory.
Joining the company on November 10 are Jocelyn Maher, who will make her Broadway debut as Ginny Potter, and Matt Harrington, who arrives from the show’s North American Tour to play Ron Weasley.
Harrington’s engagement will run through January 31, 2027, ahead of Rupert Grint’s Broadway debut as Ron on February 2. Grint will appear for a limited engagement, with an end date yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, Tom Felton’s run as Draco Malfoy will conclude on January 3, 2027, as will Aidan Close’s current engagement as Scorpius Malfoy.
Felton will be succeeded by Ben Thys, who originated the role of Draco in the North American Tour. Thys will begin performances on January 5.
Scorpius, meanwhile, will be played by three actors over the coming months. Following Close’s departure on January 3, Erik Christopher Peterson will return to the Broadway company on January 5 for a four-week engagement, concluding January 31. Cody Combs will then take over the role on February 2, making his Broadway debut on the same night Grint joins the production.
