It seems a few magical items may have vanished.

According to a new report from The Sun, props on the set of HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series have become such coveted items that production has reportedly begun microchipping certain pieces to keep track of them.

The report claims that several items have gone missing during production of Season 1, prompting warnings to cast and crew at Leavesden Studios. A notice allegedly posted on set says that props are being tracked daily for “inventory and security purposes” and that any item removed from its designated area must first be cleared by the props department. Items such as wands, broomsticks, pumpkins, spellbooks, and even fake food are said to be among those being monitored.

It is easy to understand why anything from the new Wizarding World set might be tempting, though definitely not worth a trip to Azkaban. Props from the original Harry Potter films have become major collector’s items over the years. Per The Sun, production is also keeping an eye on online resale sites, including eBay, though no missing props have reportedly surfaced for sale.

Hilariously, Lox Pratt (Draco Malfoy), recently said in an interview that he was told by a former star to pocket as many props as possible. Unfortunately, it sounds like he won’t be able to take that advice after all.
