Ever wished you could curl up in an armchair beside the Gryffindor common room fireplace? A new immersive audio experience from Pottermore Publishing might be the next best thing.
Pottermore Publishing is introducing Harry Potter Audioscapes, a new series of immersive audio experiences designed to transport listeners into familiar locations from the wizarding world through narration, music, and atmospheric sound design. The first release, Moments at Hogwarts: The Gryffindor Common Room, arrives November 17, 2026, and promises an hour of relaxing audio inspired by one of Hogwarts’ most beloved spaces.
Unlike traditional audiobooks, Audioscapes aren’t designed to tell a story from beginning to end. Instead, they combine carefully selected passages from the original Harry Potter books with ambient sounds and original music, creating an experience intended for relaxation, studying, or enjoying a little time at Hogwarts.
A Year in the Gryffindor Common Room
The first Audioscape takes listeners through an entire school year, from autumn to summer, without ever leaving the Gryffindor common room.
As the seasons change, excerpts from the books follow the rhythms of life at Hogwarts, accompanied by the crackling of the fireplace, distant thunder, and other familiar sounds. The hourlong experience has also been designed to play on a continuous loop, meaning you can theoretically spend an entire afternoon beside the common room fire.
The production uses Dolby Atmos immersive audio technology, with narration recorded using ASMR techniques to create a quieter, more intimate listening experience. Sam Stafford, whose previous credits include Vikings: Valhalla and Audible’s adaptation of 1984, provides the narration.
The production also features an original musical score performed by a live ensemble, incorporating subtle binaural beats intended to encourage relaxation. Andreina Gomez Casanova, sound designer for the series, explained the approach:
“You are the protagonist and part of the common room. It’s not just about hearing a story; it’s about the story becoming a part of you, leaving you with a sense of peace and a lingering desire to return to that warm, cosy fire.”
A Different Kind of Harry Potter Listening Experience
The announcement follows Pottermore Publishing’s recent work on the Harry Potter Full-Cast Editions, but the new Audioscapes series takes a considerably different approach.
“This innovative Audioscapes concept builds on the audio expertise we developed through the Harry Potter Full-Cast Editions,” said Jennie McCann, managing director of Pottermore Publishing.
“Here our focus is on immersive listening and relaxation rather than dynamic storytelling.”
McCann added that the project was inspired by the popularity of ambient Harry Potter recordings, with the team looking to expand on the concept by incorporating narration and original music. The experiences have been developed in collaboration with immersive audio specialists Granny Eats Wolf, with a creative team that includes composer Phil Bambos Zacharias, arranger and conductor Emily Tran, and producer Eleanor Mein, who also worked on the Harry Potter Full-Cast Editions.

More Hogwarts Locations Coming in 2027
The Gryffindor common room is just the beginning.
Pottermore Publishing has confirmed that two additional releases in the Moments at Hogwarts series are planned for 2027, exploring Hogwarts Classes and Hogwarts Grounds. Specific release dates have yet to be announced.
Moments at Hogwarts: The Gryffindor Common Room will be available worldwide in English through participating audiobook retailers, audio platforms, and libraries, priced at $11.99 / £7.99 / €9.99.
